I Spent 20 Years Guessing. Then I Finally Built the Thing.

For twenty years, guitar and I had a love-hate thing.

It started with St. Anger — the first album I ever owned, the one record Metallica tracked in Drop C. I had the DVD, watched a full band actually build it in the studio, and that was it. Hooked. I played all through high school, took a few lessons, even dabbled in classical. Bands at 20. Bands at 30. And still — something never fully clicked.

What finally changed everything wasn’t more practice. It was learning to actually speak the language of the instrument — understanding how the fretboard works instead of memorizing shapes. The second that clicked, guitar went from frustrating to the most fun thing I do.

Then a funny thing started happening. Every time I showed someone the way I think about it, I’d hear the same line: “man, you just made it click for me.” Over and over. After enough times, I figured I owed it to people to put it out there.

So I did. jessemoragaguitar.com is live — a free foundation guide, one-on-one lessons, and a way to finally understand the neck instead of guessing your way around it.

Here’s how I’m thinking about it — the part I’ll share:

I’m not trying to be everything to everyone. I teach one thing really well: the foundation that lets you play in any key. And I lead with who I actually am — a metal player who learned this the hard way. That’s not an angle. It’s just true, and people feel the difference.

I give the real thing away first. The free guide isn’t a teaser. It’s the actual foundation. If that alone helps you, good — that’s the point. If you want me in your corner after that, that’s what the lessons are for.

I keep it stupid simple. You don’t need to memorize a thousand things. You need the formula. Once you’ve got it, you put on your favorite song and just play.

I’m not going to lay out the whole playbook here. But I’ll tell you the thing that matters: if you’ve been stuck — lost the second a song changes key, convinced it’s a talent problem — it’s not. Nobody handed you the foundation. Let me.

Grab the free guide. Watch me play. And when it’s time, let’s work.
